Writer/Director/Set Coach Adam Tait: Set Terminology & Sit-Com Technique

About Adam’s Class

Session Information:

Dates: April 12th

Time: 6:00pm-8:00pm

Ages: 18+

Learn advanced scene preparation techniques to create BOOKABLE performances!

Adam has worked as the set coach on some of the most successful shows on TV, including: Danger Force, Henry Danger, Sam & Cat, Victorious, iCarly, Mutt & Stuff and more! His clients have booked co-stars, guest stars, pilots, and lead roles in feature films!

This is an advanced scene study session that focuses on giving yourself the best chance to perform on a professional level

1.     Taking the unique audition performance that made them cast you, and turning it into a unique performance ON SET that will make them want to bring you back!

2.     Being the kind of professional that EVERYONE on set (director, writers, and the entire crew) loves to work with, and wants to work with again and again and again!

Class Details & Format:

BEFORE…

  • A choice of scenes from Adam’s files are sent prior to the session

  • Prep your chosen scene (we recommend being as memorized as possible!)

  • You will receive an informational packet that will be reviewed durring class time with information covering “on set” protocols including:

*What a typical sit-com schedule looks like.

*What your schedule will look like when you work on a sit-com, and who is in charge of that.

  * Rehearsal and shooting terms YOU NEED TO KNOW.

*Everyone you’ll meet on set, and what their jobs are

  *Etc...

  • Arrive to the session 5-10 minutes prior to start time- be ready with any questions from the packet and to take lots of notes!

DURRING…

  • Class starts - with an intro between Adam and the actors, allowing him to get to know each participant so he can tailor his feedback to their unique personality, experience, and skill level.

Class Continues  - Each actor will perform and work their scene with Adam, learning how to maintain their uniquely brilliant characters and performances while getting notes and re-writes just like they would on set!

The Final Part (45-ish mins) – Adam will share observations from his almost 20 years on sit-com sets of how successful actors make memorable impressions, and how you can do the same! He will also answer any questions you have about working on set (please feel free to submit questions in advance).

Come away from this session more confident than ever by learning specific set terminology and techniques including:

  •       How to impress the writers, directors, and other actors you will be working with.

  • How to hear, understand, and implement notes and re-writes from directors and writers.

  • How to ingratiate yourself to the crew (believe me, THIS MATTERS! )

  • What mistakes to avoid that can make you seem unprofessional, unfriendly, incompetent, or forgettable.

  •   How to make everyone you work with remember you, and want to work with you again!

  • Comedic Sit-Com Techniques to Master

    • Rhythm, Turns, & Triplets

    • Set Ups & Punch-Lines
